While New York aggressively pursues clean energy and moves to wean off of thermal generation,NYISO’s decision to adopt marginal ELCC accreditation has fundamentally changed storage economics in downstate New York, with significant subsidies and contracts needed to support utility-scale storage buildout. At the same time, elevated gas prices and Inflation Reduction Act tax credits have strengthened the outlook for clean energy resources.
