We believe in curiosity, collaboration, and delivering exceptional value—always.  Ascend Analytics LLC is seeking a Managing Director to lead the Ascend Energy Exchange (“AEX”) business unit and drive business development across the company’s full suite of software products and services.

What You’ll Do:
Managing Director of the Ascend Energy Exchange (“AEX”) software is an executive position leading the AEX business unit. In addition, the Managing Director is responsible for generating all business development across all products and services.

The key job duties are as follows:

  • Identify, develop, and provide marketing strategies to support the AEX product based on knowledge of company growth objectives and client/stakeholder needs in the current U.S. energy market.
  • Direct marketing activities and policies not only to promote AEX software but also the entire suite of company software products, working cross-functionally with other product managers.
  • Evaluate and create several financial aspects of product development for AEX, including financial sales projections, budgets, expenditures, and R&D appropriations.
  • Develop pricing strategies for AEX. Direct the hiring, training, and performance evaluations of marketing or sales staff in the AEX division and oversee their daily activities.
  • Use sales forecasting and strategic planning to ensure the sale and profitability of all company software products, analyzing business developments and monitoring market trends.
  • Create, review, revise, and negotiate legal agreements between Ascend Analytics and AEX customers, primarily AEX Development Asset Marketing Services Agreements and Non-Disclosure Agreements.
  • Advise and assist in the negotiation of deal/close transaction agreements between buyers and sellers of energy assets, including Letters of Intent, Term Sheets, and binding contracts (e.g., Membership Interest Purchase and Sales Agreements).
  • Confer with legal staff to resolve problems, such as copyright infringement or compliance issues.

What You'll Bring

Education

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or Marketing Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a closely related field

Experience

  • 5 years in a senior management position (e.g., Chief Executive Officer, Chief Development Officer, VP of Business Development, or similar) in a U.S energy company, with direct responsibility over mergrs and acquisition (both buy-side and sell-side), energy storage project development (including commercial strategy and financial modeling, interconnection and transmission, real estate and environmental permitting), and project pipeline creation.
  • 10 years’ experience developing U.S. energy projects involving renewable energy and energy storage technologies, from inception to construction to commercial operation, and working with independent engineers. 10 years’ experience working with U.S. energy law, including regulatory affairs; rules involving energy interconnection and transmission; and environmental permitting, in order to efficiently advise clients as well as secure and move projects through the project pipeline and through EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) vendors.

Additional Requirements:
Travel: 6 times per year, domestic only, for participation in trade shows, conferences, and direct client meetings.

Supervision of Others: Energy Analyst, Financial Analyst, Sales Coordinator

Compensation: $312,500 Base Salary
Negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
