Robert LaFaso, Director of Forecasting & Valuation

Mr. LaFaso leads Ascend Analytics’ Market Intelligence (AscendMI) day-to-day practice area, which encompasses the development of long-term supply-stack, market-price, and project-economics forecasts. His work influences Ascend's software suite, as AscendMI forecasts drive the analytics behind PowerSIMM and PowerVAL. Mr. LaFaso conducted the Valuation Due Diligence for significant M&A transactions, including the multi-gigawatt portfolios behind TerraGen’s sale to Masdar and Origis Energy’s sale to Antin Infrastructure Partners.

Carley Dolch, Managing Director of Energy Risk Solutions

Ms. Dolch is the Managing Director of Energy Risk Solutions, where she leads portfolio management, resource planning, and reliability analysis.  Ms. Dolch brings to Ascend Analytics over 15 years of energy market experience, including optimizing reliability and financial margins, settlements, and bringing to market innovative software analytics that assist companies to best manage increasingly complex market conditions.

Paul Eory, Director of Energy Analytics Solutions

Mr. Paul Eory, Director of Energy Analytics Solutions, supports asset valuation, portfolio management, integrated resource planning, and long-term planning for utilities, developers, IPPs, and investors. With over 13 years of energy sector expertise, he recently helped hyperscalers evaluate assets and accelerated a large investor-owned utility's procurement evaluation process from months to days. Mr. Eory began his career at Bay City Electric Light & Power, managed energy efficiency programs, and served as the IRP modeler for Lansing Board of Water & Light. Before Ascend, he led IRPs, FP&A, rate design, and strategic planning at Michigan’s largest municipal utility. He also served on the Board of the American Public Power Association’s DEED program.

Paul Saferstein, Senior Advisor, Data Centers

Mr. Saferstein has over 25 years of experience as a digital infrastructure/telecommunications and utilities specialist at several financial institutions, including Alliance Bernstein, Morgan Stanley, ACQ, and other hedge funds. Prior to joining Ascend, Mr. Saferstein was a contract Chief Strategy Officer for a digital infrastructure provider, spearheading its AI hyperscale data center strategy. He also served as a portfolio manager/senior analyst at First New York, focusing on global capital markets and specializing in digital infrastructure/telecom, utilities, and crypto currency.
