Gary Dorris, PhD, Founder

Dr. Dorris, a pioneer in energy modeling for more than two decades, is the Founder of Ascend Analytics, a 170+ person energy analytics software and consulting firm. His work advanced methods for modeling power markets to support real-time operations, portfolio management, and resource planning. Dr. Dorris has supported more than $50 billion in project financing through independent market assessments and has advised multiple boards of directors. Industry leaders regularly rely on Dr. Dorris for expert testimony and executive presentations. He previously served as lead expert witness for Merrill Lynch in the Enron proceedings and has supported numerous regulatory cases.

Paul Eory, Director of Utilities & Corporates

Paul Eory, Director of Utilities and Corporates, supports asset valuation, portfolio management, integrated resource planning, and long-term planning for utilities, developers, IPPs, and investors. With over 13 years of energy sector expertise, Paul helps hyperscalers evaluate assets and accelerated a large investor-owned utility's procurement evaluation process from months to days. Paul began his career at Bay City Electric Light & Power, managed energy efficiency programs, and served as the IRP modeler for Lansing Board of Water & Light. Before Ascend, he led IRPs, FP&A, rate design, and strategic planning at Michigan’s largest municipal utility. Paul also served on the Board of the American Public Power Association’s DEED program.

Keegan Campanelli, Product Manager

Keegan Campanelli is a Product Manager at Ascend Analytics and contributes to the development of PowerVAL, Ascend’s platform for asset valuation and long-term wholesale price and retail rate forecasting. Keegan works closely with developers, IPPs, and investors to ensure analytics tools support real-world project development and investment decisions. Prior to Ascend, Keegan worked as a software engineer at RTI on IoT connectivity solutions and later served as a product manager at Lumin, where he focused on demand-side technologies that support rapid electrification in a distributed, renewable power grid.
