Cost Implications of the OBBBA for CA State Clean Energy Policy

Wednesday, April 15, 2026 | 11:45am

With limited onshore wind resource potential, federal headwinds for offshore wind, and the removal of federal support for green hydrogen production, decarbonizing the overnight in California will become more expensive and challenging than ever. With energy affordability increasingly becoming a political flashpoint, the pressures against meeting SB100 goals and tolerating CARB cap-and-trade prices will grow as well. This presentation will examine California’s policy options for mitigating cost impacts and discuss the impacts on California’s supply evolution.
